Earth’s
Children
As
Earth’s Children, we are tied to this place we call home and
to
the energies
inhabiting this space along with us. Our
view is not photographic, but rather a collage of images, melding and
blending
into each other. It is sometimes driven
by logic, sometimes driven by intuition and emotion.
It
is a journey, a movement, from where we
stand now to a place filled with mystery, with light and shadow, both
intriguing and a little frightening. These
images are snapshots of the human journey.
Images
are captured from fleeting thoughts, impressions with doodles,
drawings, or
paintings in variety of mediums. These
sometime idle pieces are then digitized, brought into a computer, and
gathered
into a composition. This results in a
juxtaposition of as each as an original piece and each as a print. We,
like the Earth’s Children
Series,
co-exist in a strange combination of one state relating to another. We
reach
inward and outward at the same time, to help define the bounds of self.
The
Village
The
Village Series is populated with painted wooden sculptures. These
wall hangings are inspired by Native
American Rock Art, enigmatic and haunting. Each
inhabitant is uniquely created to tell the story of
what it means
to be human. Each has its role to play in a universe where the lines
between
the living and the spiritual world intertwine.
Using
materials of and from the earth, I adorn
each character with a variety of organic parts. Items as diverse as
wood, oil
paint, sisal, jute, sinew, porcupine quills, feathers, a variety of
beads, and
leather, from cow to deer to buffalo come together to express the
nature of
each character. It is a universe that
goes from this humble village, to the tribes of many villages, to the
nation of
tribes, and finally to a world of nations, a community of beings living
within
this great harmonious circle.
Turtle
Prints
There
is a series of turtles that has emerged
as of late. They seem to be the
beginnings of a new series of something larger, a totem that comes into
your
life as a guide. When turtle shows
up
in your life, it is time to get connected to your most primal essence.
Go
within your shell and come out when your ideas are ready to be
expressed. The
turtle cannot separate itself from its shell and we cannot separate
ourselves
from what we do to the earth. When the
pace of life becomes too hectic the turtle shows us how to slow down
and go
with the flow.
Because
of its great age and its slow metabolism the turtle is associated with
longevity. Turtle medicine can
teach new
perceptions about time and our relationship to it. It can also help us
grow old
gracefully and in harmony with our environment.
Primitive
Swimmers
These
ceramic and jute pieces are reminiscent of carved Rock Art
of a time long passed. Somewhat
whimsical and, at the same time, somehow
spiritual, each piece is a unique fish or turtle. They work
as
individual
pieces or schools to adorn your walls.
Day
Glows
A
dozen different surfaces and images married
together then printed on vellum. The
surfaces reflect the caves of so long ago but what we find in our world
today,
such as, stucco, shattered glass, and ice Text
captures a unifying thought to help give a sense of
connection,
understanding, and inspiration. The
images are available in float
framed
prints, 5” x 7” and 8” x 10”.
When
placed in
front of the light, results are a
glowing, attractive and thought provoking visual experience.
Spirit
Guides
Currently under
development
At
the cross roads between the physical, the world of matter, and its
counterpoint, the energies of the universe, is the creation of
awareness;
elusive, indefinable consciousness. It
is a mystery of creation. Measured in
moments, individual mind events, by their very nature, so deeply
personal, they
become so very universal.
Spirit
Guides help steer us thru the twists and confusions of such moments
when our
path is so uncertain. Each
Guide is
an energy,
when felt and understood, holds a powerful message for a particular
moment. As carriers of
awareness,
they
give hints and suggestions of our true path. They
have much to teach us.
