The Village Series is populated with painted wooden sculptures.  These wall hangings are inspired by Native American Rock Art, enigmatic and haunting.   Each inhabitant is uniquely created to tell the story of what it means to be human. Each has its role to play in a universe where the lines between the living and the spiritual world intertwine.

 Using materials of and from the earth, I adorn each character with a variety of organic parts. Items as diverse as wood, oil paint, sisal, jute, sinew, porcupine quills, feathers, a variety of beads, and leather, from cow to deer to buffalo come together to express the nature of each character.  It is a universe that goes from this humble village, to the tribes of many villages, to the nation of tribes, and finally to a world of nations, a community of beings living within this great harmonious circle.
